United Nations
• UNICEF, New York (2001-present): As deputy chief of the Internet, Broadcast and Interactive Section of the United Nations Children's Fund, based at its headquarters in New York, I manage the organization's resources of teams and funds to support, develop and create content and infrastructure to support and promote UNICEF's work around the world.
 
Education
• Jumpstart, South Africa (1997-2001): Creating mentoring and internship programs for previously disadvantaged students to better equip them to proactively participate in the digital economy.
• ‘World White Web?’, South Africa (1997-2001): Advocating for the development of the Internet in Africa through conference presentations and workshops. Consulted on corporate social responsibility initiatives and served as an expert panelist at Freedom Forum events and radio and TV programmes.
• Education Officer, The Names Project, Washington DC, USA (1996): Guided schoolchildren around the Aids Quilt for the duration of the Quilt in the Capital event, with the aim of demystifying the disease and illuminating its extent.
• Educational outreach, Grahamstown, South Africa (1990-1994): Tutored final year high school “township” students. Bettered their matriculation scores and so improved their post-school opportunities.
 
Healthcare
• Child nutrition projects, Grahamstown, South Africa (1990-1994): Secured, delivered, prepared and disseminated food to various children’s feeding schemes in impoverished areas.
• Chronic care projects, Grahamstown, South Africa (1990-1993): Worked with children and the elderly in the chronic care wards at Settlers’ Hospital. This involved occupational therapy, low impact physical exercise and securing activity materials from sponsors and other sources.
 
The environment
• Financial support (ongoing): A global supporter of environmental initiatives, from local community gardens in New York City and research into sustainable technologies, to contributions to the preservation of natural environments and species.
• MS Studies of the future, University of Houston, USA (1999 – present): Examining, modeling and building system simulations to deconstruct development issues such as AIDS education, slavery and the failure of water projects in southern Africa.
• National Parks volunteer, Washington DC, USA (1996-1997): Worked as a National Parks volunteer on pollution and restoration projects along the length of the C&O Canal.Academic
• The impact and efficacy of development initiatives is an ongoing study focus.
• BJourn, Rhodes University, South Africa (1990-1994): Majored in geography with a concentration in developmental geography.
